When to Have Your Sofa Deep Cleaned
The seating area is darker than the backrest
The most obvious sign is the front edge of the seat cushion and the top of the armrest, which are darker than the side of the sofa or the underside of the cushion. Press a white damp microfibre cloth on the seat and rub it back and forth 10 times: a grey cloth indicates that the dirt is sitting inside the fibre of the fabric and the vacuum cleaner is no longer removing it.
The smell remains even after airing
The smell of pets, smoke or sour milk left after a 24-hour airing comes from the filling, not from the surface of the fabric. Odor molecules are water-soluble and come out with the extraction liquid, the odourant sprayed on the surface only covers the smell temporarily.
Sneezing Starts While Sitting on the Couch
Sneezing and itchy eyes that get worse when sitting or lying on the couch come from dust mites that feed on skin particles in the filling. The 60°C cleaning solution kills dust mites and the extraction pulls their remains and droppings out of the inside of the fabric.
Why Does Dirt Stick to Sofa Fabric?
Every day, sebum, sweat and food grease from the hands reach the sofa fabric, which forms a thin sticky film around the fibres. Polyester and other synthetic fibres are grease-loving, so the film binds street dust and pet hair, and the seating area darkens evenly without any individual stains.
The vacuum cleaner only removes loose dust, because the grease-bound particle does not leave the surface of the fibre without detergent. The hot water makes the fat more liquid, the detergent's surfactant surrounds the fat particle, and the vacuum of the extraction machine pulls it out as an emulsion. The detergent residue left in the fabric is itself the glue for new dirt, so the last pass is done with clean water.

We read the cleaning code on the care label and test the colourfastness on a piece of fabric hidden near the back leg of the sofa: we apply cleaning solution to it, wait 5 minutes and press a white cloth over it. The fabric that gives the colour can be dry cleaned, and the leather and alcantara can be cleaned with the product specified for their material.
Vacuuming and Stain Pretreatment
We remove the seat and back cushions and vacuum the bottom of the pillow base with a narrow nozzle, where the most crumbs and hair accumulate. We apply an enzyme-based product to milk, blood and sweat stains and let it work for 10 minutes, because the enzyme needs time to break down the protein molecules, and if you extract it too soon, the edge of the stain remains.
Three Passes and Drying
The extraction head goes over each zone three times: the first pass transfers the 60-degree washing solution into the fabric, the second pulls it out along with the dirt, and the third rinses with clean water and vacuums the surface dry. Finally, we brush the hair in a uniform direction, examine the sofa with the customer in the light and leave the window in the ventilation position, because you must not sit on the sofa during the first hour.

Will an old coffee stain come out completely?
Fresh coffee, tea and wine stains can often be removed by extraction. An older coffee stain that has oxidised in the fibres may leave a lighter mark; the cleaner will point this out before starting.
Does cleaning remove dust mites?
